TCNJ Lions Invite (04/26/2025)
After the meet last week, I noticed my deceleration before takeoff, and lack of extension in takeoff. My plan was to fix them with a different cadence in approach and more extension in the back of my run. My reasoning was originally from breaking down the approach into 6-6-6 steps, to 6-8-4, the shortened last phase will give me less time to make wrong adjustments. For extension in the back of my run, I hope it will promote a more open posture to transfer to a full extension in takeoff.
Before going to the meet, I did not expect too much, as I did not expect to find solutions to my technical problems on the first try, and the weather was not optimal for jumping far. All my focus was on my plan and playing it out. I did have less deceleration and more extension. That was already enough for me to walk off the track with pride.
Still, today was not a perfect day. I had trouble finding the board. I did not touch the board until the last jump, which I was hyped up and jumped flat. My excuse was the unpredictable wind. At least, now I know I need to learn to adjust the mark with the wind, and I do need a little height in order to jump far.
